Interviewer: Are you now a better cook? Helena: oh, infinitely better, yeah. I must say i’m almost a compulsive buyer of cookbooks but I don’t necessarily get to cook all that often just because of time. It’s that thing of having kids, just when you want to get round to the cooking, you’re having to bath them and do the stories and everything so the food gets compromised by the length of the story. But maybe you could put that in your next book Nige - How do you cook with getting them to bed and the timings. You do bath then you put things in the oven but then the thing is the putting the thing in the oven then it has to be ready by the time you’ve done one chapter of narnia. Then you come down and it’s burnt and Tim looks at me like, you know and i’m like ‘well you do the story or you do the cooking’.

(on how she decides what roles to accept) Well first of all it’s the script and it’s the part, you’ve got to have a chemistry with the part and there’s an instinctive….it’s pretty quick. You know if you want to play it or not. With Tim and toast,…I mean not with Tim and Toast….well, no, it was funny actually, I remember saying ‘should I?, shouldn’t I’ I was torn between the kids and the work and I just thought ‘shit’ you know but Tim said ‘you’ve been talking in a Birmingham accent now for 3 weeks now, you’re doing it!, you’re already there’ I said ‘really?’ I was completely oblivious and he just said ‘just do it and get it over with’ because he didn’t really like the Birmingham accent.
